On March 2, 2017, Al-Farabi KazNU accepted the Ambassador of South Africa in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan Keitumetse Seipelo Thandeka Matthews.

During the meeting parties got acquainted with the activities of the Embassy of South Africa in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The main purpose of the visit is to strengthen relations with universities of South Africa, as well as research in scientific and innovative activities in the implementation of joint projects. The parties came to the conclusion that their opportunities give grounds for establishing a long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation in all possible areas of activity, particularly, in lecturing in various fields, especially in astronomy, within the ambassadorial hour at the Faculty of International Relations, and in the lecture hall named after N. Mandela at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science. Also Mrs. Ambassador told the audience interesting and instructive stories from lifves of outstanding Nelson Mandela and Ahmed Kathrada, who was a close friend of her father.

  To take a final decision on the possibility of further cooperation, the authorized representatives of the parties will hold joint consultations and meetings, if necessary.
