At this time, in KazNU successfully operates the “Geo-Energy” center, which was founded in 2010 under the agreement on strategic partnership between France and Kazakhstan, on the initiative of Presidents Nazarbayev N. and Sarkozy N.  During this time, more than 100 undergraduates and more than 20 doctoral students were trained in joint educational programs in the following specialties: “Mechanics”, “Mathematical and computer modeling”, “Computer Science”, “Computer engineering and software”. To date, work on the transformation of this Center into the Kazakh-French Institute of science, technology and energy, which is scheduled to open in 2021 continues. Ambassador of the France to Kazakhstan D. Canesse in Kazakhstan called the given project one of the important priorities of his mission in Kazakhstan.

In partnership with the University of Lorraine and the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, four joint master's programs, with the possibility of parallel training at two universities in oil and gas, energy, mathematics and mechanics, are implemented. The given program provides a chance for students to study and train professionally in France, as well as to learn French intensively in special courses.

There was suggested to create a joint Kazakh-French research school of mathematics, the purpose of which will be to train personnel of a new structure with the authority to use knowledge in practice. There is also a plan to develop international research groups and work on joint research projects, including in the field of high technologies, with the involvement of EU funding.

During the meeting, Ambassador Didier Canesse stressed the high scientific and educational opportunities of KazNU and noted with confidence that the opening of the school of mathematics will help the future expansion and strengthening of cooperation between the advanced Kazakhstani University and higher educational institutions of France.
